The Singles

Cold Cold World under the name Tommy Jackson

Tommy Dougherty cut the single Cold Cold World and the B-side A Torch I Carry for Texas label Tear Drop Records under the name Tommy Jackson in 1968. Ray Doggett produced the blues record and he and owner Huey P. Meaux decided to release it under a more “black” name, henceforth the change to Tommy Jackson. The single was a regional hit on the black and blues stations.

Tear Drop Records was founded in  Texas in the early 1960s by Huey P. Meaux. The Cold Cold World single was released under item number 3191. Cold Cold World was written by Tommy Dougherty; A Torch I Carry was written by Ray Doggett and Y Parker Wong.

Karate K K

In 1965, Tommy released his first record. Karate K K was recorded by Tommy Dougherty and Leo Grimaldo and The Symbols, along with the B-side Japan Ways. Tommy and Leo wrote Karate K K. The song was included on Barnyard Soul Part Two, which was released in 2006 by Deep Groove Records and includes a stellar compilation of butt shakers.
